I have zenfire data - I can't seem add the $TICK as an instrument - anyone know how to do this?

Thank you for your post.
Yeneuro is correct. You can not receive data for indexes from Zen-Fire since they only provide data for futures.
Please see the following link for more information as it covers supported data providers and their offerings. You will want to see which ones offer Index data.
