What does green box with "so" mean?

I was clicking around doing stuff and noticed that a green box with the letters "so" appeared next to my account dropdown in the SuperDOM. I can't find documentation on this - what does it mean?

This box indicates that Simulated Ordering is enabled. Please right click in the DOM and uncheck Simulated Order.

What is the purpose of this? Does it just allow me to place a "sim" order if I have a live account selected, without actually switching accounts using the drop-down to select Sim101?

Thank you for your reply.

This setting allows you to place simulated stop orders (locally held stop order) when discretionary trading.
Please note that the Simulated Order setting will have no effect on ATM Strategies.
