      What I did is rename that folder. I now see NT created a new folder in its place with the default name.

        I'm on the new IQFeed client that you reported in your tests yesterday. If you really want I can roll back. I doubt it's going to make any difference.

        When is NT6.5 getting updated to the new IQFeed client? You're 2 versions behind.

          I strongly recommend you only run the configurations as per our web site, since anything else would be at your own risk. We currently have no plans to update the IQFeed api for NT6.5.

            I just ran another test, exact same 6.5 setup as per my prior post but on 15 days back on all charts: took less than 75 secs after starting NT.

              I rolled back to your version of IQF. That didn't help.

              I strongly recommend you keep uptodate with data vendor's official current releases of their software rather than rely on outdated tools and clients. DTN have made changes to their protocols this year as well as some changes internally to their servers. I'm not sure what those changes are, you might want to check on this on Monday. Regardless, this problem we're looking into existed also back in 2008.

              Well back to square one, a 100% fresh install which meets 100% your approved versions is still not performing as it should.

                At this time I would not know what causes your machine to behave irregularly. Another avenue or trying to isolate the source of problem is running the recommended setup on a different machine (if you had any at hand).

                  I already am running it on 2 machines, on my desktop and on a laptop.

                  Since NT is getting data fine from my Futurepath TT connection (alas no Index data), and my IQFeed is fetching data fine to my QuoteTracker s/w, then it must be in the NT+IQfeed combination, something in the way NT is manipulating IQFeed and requesting data from it.

                  In any case, if you have any other ideas let me know.

                      On the contrary, your website says

                      "You must have the latest IQFeed Client sofware"

                      although it does give the link to 4.3.0.3

                      It's absolutely not clear that you need to stay on that version, and, are you aware, IQFeed pops up a message everytime you connect if you are on an older version?

                      I would also strongly encourage you to keep pace with the latest IQFeed version. I'm on the latest version, and it appears to work as before.

                      Going back to the hanging issue, even though it's listed as a fix for NT7, no one from Ninja on either of these threads seems to acknowledge that the problem exists in NT6.5.

                      Either I've seriously misunderstood, or can you please just say, yes it's a known issue and is fixed in NT7?

                        Where exactly would you see the issue this thread is dealing with "listed as a fix for NT7"? NT7 comes
                        - with a redesign of the historical data part of the IQFeed adapter to reflect the new IQFeed features
                        - addresses very specific issues as outlined in the NT7 feature announcement. Based on all information provided so far, none of these issues would be relevant in that case

                        In addition, I personally ran multiple tests on6.5 with setup as provided by TradeEyal but unfortunately was not able to reproduce the issue. I would be happy to learn more on the nature of that problem but so far I'm on a loss.

                          - Optimized processing of news and historical data series requests
                          - Fixed issue where daily events were not processed correctly if NinjaTrader was left connected to IQFeed overnight

                            Thanks for clarification. TradeEyal confirmed multiple times, that he hadn't any connectivity issues. Thus, I would think that's not the issue here.

                              I think it possibly is. There is more than one way to lose a connection. Suffice to say that every time it happens to me, I notice that the IQ server has changed. I don't know what causes the server to change while no internet connectivity is lost, and I don't know whether the change is a result of the hang, rather than the other way round, but since a loss of connectivity would also cause the server to change, I suspect it could be the same issue.

                                The issue I reported above happens when no connectivity loss is seen as far as I can tell (IB TWS remains logged in, QT + IQFeed continue to stream data). Btw IB TWS data feed, ZenFire data feed and as mentioned TT data feed all work fine. This means NT's adapter for IQFeed isn't working as it should.

                                When connectivity is lost there's a separate issue. During occasions when there is an evident drop in connectivity, NT will attempt to reconnect but from that point onwards even when the connection resumes and is stable NT will continue to alternate between lost connection, reconnect, lost connection, reconnect every few seconds. The only way to solve it is to shut down NT and restart it and then possibly wait again for several hours for data to load. This happens on a regular basis, i.e. can be reproduced easily. Again, this is a separate issue on rare occasions when internet connectivity is lost at the router/ISP etc. This again happens ONLY with IQFeed. Reconnection on other feeds works fine.

                                I'm now checking whether the firewall is contributing to the original issue above. Results are inconclusive at this point but there *may* be some improvement when no firewall is installed (not recommended for obvious reasons).

                                May I know what firewall you are using Dave / Dierk?
