Alright, I've about had it with Mirus.

I hear a lot of great things about Mirus, in terms of its technical capabilities (courtesy of ZenFire), on this forum. So, I decided I'd give them a try.

Well, so far, my experience is a F. I got a rep who I have a hell of a time getting hold of. I have my initial deposit disappearing, without anyone noticing. In short, I'm not pleased.

What are my other alternatives? Any other brokers that will give me ZenFire + NT?

Any feedback from others about which of these might be preferred choices?

I can go direct to RCG? I thought RCG was clearing for Mirus, and I had to go through Mirus. What does Mirus bring to the table if I can go straight to RCG?

Mirus is an introducing broker for RCG, which is the Futures Commission Merchant. You can go direct to RCG, but you might have to pay way higher commission rates unless you are doing some serious size.

Dorman is another FCM. Dorman also has a front end that works with the iphone. I've heard decent things about AMP Trading.

Heech, I use AMP and can say that they are professional and courteous. I have not had any problems like the one you described above, but I can tell you that when I first signed up I had some technical issues and they answered the phone promptly and seemed genuinely concerned with resolving my problem even when I was operating solely on SIM.

            Hi all,

A little surprised to see this thread revived!

I just want to update and say I stayed with Mirus, and was able to work out issues with my rep. Everyone can make a mistake. Their service has been "fine" since, no new problems. I'm not positive I will stay with them for the long term... but I wouldn't warn anyone away, either.

When I first signed up with Mirus, I got an unsolicited call from their tech support to check with me if I had any connecting issues that they could help me with. We then chatted for 20 minutes about their services.

              I was very impressed.

heech, can you elaborate on the issues with Mirus? I am/was just planning to sign up with them. Mainly on the "initial deposit disappearing" comment?

                    Thanks,

Wow, this thread is revived again!

My rep credited my check into the wrong account. I'm not very impressed that happened, especially since my account number had been on the check's memo, and he knew it was coming (overnight)... but at the end of the day, it wasn't a huge deal. Any broker can make paper-handling mistakes.

I ultimately did not stay with Mirus. I'm not that happy with ZenFire, versus the direct Rithmic feed I can get with Vision. I'm also not really pleased with Mirus' capabilities on the floor, since everything has go to through their trade desk. At the end of the day, they're a small firm very good at their specialty of handling common swing-trader instruments (6E, ES, CL, etc...). My requirements were very different.

Global Futures is an IB for RCG, but I was told they use PATS, which brings a little added cost per.

I switched to Global yesterday and also wanted to stay with RCG so I thought OK, let's go with Pats. What I didn't realize is that Pats has no historical data feed (how can such a solution even exist?), which is obviously a big issue as you'll need a second data provider for historical. Other than the extra cost, my main issue with this option was data consistency. In the end I decided to stay with Global but I chose their second option, which is AMP with CQG (which also offers historical data). I guess that's one of the best solutions out there for Ninja.

As Mirus would be the first to say, "Past performance is not a guide to future performance"

I had no complaints about their service, but this whole episode was an eye-opener. They lied to customers, underplayed the problems, refused to communicate, forced a half-baked solution into live trading, pretended there weren't problems, pretended the problems were solved when they were not... the list goes on.

Life has taught me that when someone has proven to be untrustworthy it's better to back away quietly and look to partner with someone you CAN trust. Trust is even more important in trading than it is in other online partnerships.
