    General Charting questions on NT6

Right now I am with Velocity. They don't seem to have historical data available? Is there a way to get this if I go to NT 6. Also is there a way to verify that NT charts is cutting bars exactly at 500 ticks. I don't see that in data box for NT5 charts? Lastly is there any flexibility in what is shown for fib retraces. For example, the method I currently am learning requires that I only see the 61.8% with all others, except maybe 0 and 100 % be invisible. Is this possible in NT6 charting? Also is there a way to just project the 61.8 from beg. of projection to infinity towards the right of chart?

    Dan,

To get historical data with Velocity you will have to have a market data vendor subscription through eSignal, IQFeed, TrackData or OpenTick. OpenTick is currently a free service.

There is no way to verify that a 500 tick bar has 500 ticks however, I can assure you that is the case. There is a TickCounter indicator that may be of value.

Yes, you can change and set visual options as you described with the fib tool.

Thanks, what brokers currently offer historical data included. I believe Miurs/Zen is one. Any others?

Ok thanks, can I mix data feeds. Use Velocity for real time data and have Open Tick backfill at essentially the same time?

            Yes,

Connect to Velocity first, then OpenTick second.

One last question please. Can I have NT 5 and 6 connected to Velocity at the same time? Do I lose some functionality if they are both connected?

                Hello dandxg:

You can only run 1 instance of NinjaTrader at a time on one computer. You cannot run both NT 5 and NT 6 simultaneously.

                Regards,

Ryan sorry to be redundant, but to clarify. Can I run NT 6 on 1 computer and NT 5 on another computer. I don't really want to trade on NT 6, but just use the charts until it's ready for full release.

                    Hello dandxg:

Concurrent use of NinjaTrader does violate the live license agreement. It is possible to run both versions of NT simultaneoulsly on 2 seperate computers, however please use the Simulation License key for your NT 6 computer since you are using in simulation.

                    Regards,

Thanks Ryan, unfortunately it may not get that far. I asked earlier, as was told yes, that I could project fib retracements line to the right for infinity. I can't see this is possible after trying. It doesn't seem to be able to adjust fib retrace, unless you can say otherwise?

                        Dan,

                        - Draw a fib retracement
                        - Select it and right click, Fib Properties
                        - Enable "Extend line"
                        - You can then save this as Default as well if you wish

Thanks Ray, hey nice improvements on NT6 charting. Hey is there anyway to get the candles to start at exactly at market open for tick charts. I want to start right at marktet open on tick charts.

Sure, set your session start time to market open time, the first tick that NT gets will open the first bar.
