Synchronize positions with FB

Unfortunately we are not aware of any other way to resolve the issue than proceeding as I suggested in my post below.

OK, so you're saying you have no way to test this. And you're unprepared to have a developer even look at the code. The customer should just throw live trades around to test it for you, and see what happens. Furthermore, if you ever make changes in this area in the future (and let's face it there's loads to fix/implement) you have no way of testing that either.

No wonder it appears to have not been tested properly!!

I will get round do doing this, when I have trades to make. Not ideal is it?

Have you thought of asking FB for a new API with average price in it??

There's so much you could actually do here, instead of repeatedly getting the customer to throw away their database.

I'm the original developer and it did work as we tested it. Please proceed as suggested.

I did exactly as you said, flattened the position, reset the db, connected, put a position on, reconnected. I got the message 'failed to syncronise properly, reconnect' - and the average price was zero. I reconnected, got no errors, and the average price was still zero.

Where do we go now?

I then would need to connect to your live account (provided it's flat) with a fresh DB and see what could cause the errors.

Futures Betting

I've just read this thread with great interest as I'm currently developing strategies which I hope to trade live sometime in June. I was planning on using Futures Betting as the broker but reading about all the problems dave is having has really put me off. Which brokers would NT support recommend for trading futures and not encountering these kind of problems (getting zero back for AvgPrice of a live position!)?

Unfortunately we do not recommend any broker or data provider, since we are neutral to all of them. May be the community could contribute?!?

For what it's worth, I use FB because they're tax free in the UK. I am going to be looking at using another DMA broker as well though.

I do expect there'll be some progress on this with FB, so you might want to keep an open mind. In fact you can carry on developing strategies largely regardless I'd think.

From hanging around here a bit, Interactive Brokers seems to be a commonly used one.

I'm based in the UK too and thats why I was interested in FB. I have a friend (based in UK) who has an IB account and had some problems so hasnt started live trading.

I just got off the phone with Berkeley Futures in London and they say trading with NinjaTrader connected to their platform is very reliable and uses PATS but it would be nice to speak to someone who can confirm this.

I wll carry on developing strategies in the meantime anyway thanks.

Hopefully FB will sort out their issues.
