Automated strategy development and backtesting for FREE

I'm new to Ninja Trader and was curious about the automated trading strategies. The website mentions one can develop and backtest automated strategies for free, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do it with my version of NT. I'm connected to a data feed from Mirus Futures.

Just to clarify, you posted in the ATM Strategies (Discretionary Trading) section, which is NOT automated strategies. Are you asking about ATM or fully automated strategies?
Also, I beleive you are using a license that does not contain this functionality as you received it from your broker.

Well I guess the semantics are a bit confusing. ATM is apparently not Automated trading yet it consists of auto-type events (Auto Breakeven, Auto Chase, Auto Trail, etc.) Even more confusing is the help file which states:

An ATM Strategy is the master strategy that helps you automate the management of a position.

Anyway, perhaps you can tell me which one I mean. I would like to simulate and backtest strategies which will automatically enter, trail and exit positions given certain indicators and using the free version. Is this possible?

Ok, so do I need to purchase NinjaTrader to use NinjaScripting (even if only in simulation mode)?

You can use NinjaScript with the FREE license provided by NinjaTrader, not the broker.

I have followed the link as shown above, downloaded and installed NinjaTrader Version 6.5.1000.9. However, I still do not see any difference. Is there a different License Key I'm supposed to use?

Yes, you should recieve an email with the free license. Check your junk/ spam folder.

If you are not able to locate it, send a note to Support AT NinjaTrader DOT com and request the free license.

Yes, I got it and now have NinjaScripting ability. I guess I was getting confused with the license key. Thanks for your assistance.
