I was wondering if this issue was ever resolved because I'm experiencing something similar. I'm trying to fetch data while running a backtest, and, it runs fine but at some point it just stops and sits there. For example this last try the trace looked like this:
2009-05-16 09:02:47:183 (IQFeed Data) Data.Bars.GetBarsNow: instrument='ICF' from='2008-06-01' to='2009-05-15' sessionBegin='00:00:00' sessionEnd='00:00:00' excludeWeekend=False period=1 Min splitAdjusted=False dividendAdjusted=False bars=0
2009-05-16 09:03:09:050 (IQFeed Data) Data.Bars.GetBarsNow: instrument='IVV' from='2009-02-06' to='2009-05-15' sessionBegin='00:00:00' sessionEnd='00:00:00' excludeWeekend=False period=1 Min splitAdjusted=False dividendAdjusted=False bars=0
2009-05-16 09:03:14:011 (IQFeed Data) Data.Bars.GetBarsNow: instrument='IYR' from='2009-02-06' to='2009-05-15' sessionBegin='00:00:00' sessionEnd='00:00:00' excludeWeekend=False period=1 Min splitAdjusted=False dividendAdjusted=False bars=0
2009-05-16 09:03:19:315 (IQFeed Data) Data.Bars.GetBarsNow: instrument='JCP' from='2009-02-06' to='2009-05-15' sessionBegin='00:00:00' sessionEnd='00:00:00' excludeWeekend=False period=1 Min splitAdjusted=False dividendAdjusted=False bars=0
2009-05-16 09:03:23:901 (IQFeed Data) Data.Bars.GetBarsNow: instrument='JEC' from='2008-06-01' to='2009-05-15' sessionBegin='00:00:00' sessionEnd='00:00:00' excludeWeekend=False period=1 Min splitAdjusted=False dividendAdjusted=False bars=0
2009-05-16 09:03:36:811 (IQFeed Data) Data.Bars.GetBarsNow: instrument='LMT' from='2008-06-01' to='2009-05-15' sessionBegin='00:00:00' sessionEnd='00:00:00' excludeWeekend=False period=1 Min splitAdjusted=False dividendAdjusted=False bars=0
2009-05-16 09:03:49:603 (IQFeed Data) Data.Bars.GetBarsNow: instrument='LNC' from='2009-02-06' to='2009-05-15' sessionBegin='00:00:00' sessionEnd='00:00:00' excludeWeekend=False period=1 Min splitAdjusted=False dividendAdjusted=False bars=0
So on LNC it just stopped and sat there for 10 min before I aborted, except it wouldn't abort it just sat there so I turned off NT. I haven't had this issue before ever when loading data so I'm not sure what is going on.
EDIT: I ran it again, this time I got past LNC but now it is stuck on MON as per this trace file.
2009-05-16 09:16:43:652 (IQFeed Data) Data.Bars.GetBarsNow: instrument='LNC' from='2009-02-06' to='2009-05-15' sessionBegin='00:00:00' sessionEnd='00:00:00' excludeWeekend=False period=1 Min splitAdjusted=False dividendAdjusted=False bars=0
2009-05-16 09:16:48:893 (IQFeed Data) Data.Bars.GetBarsNow: instrument='LO' from='2008-07-01' to='2009-05-15' sessionBegin='00:00:00' sessionEnd='00:00:00' excludeWeekend=False period=1 Min splitAdjusted=False dividendAdjusted=False bars=0
2009-05-16 09:17:01:607 (IQFeed Data) Data.Bars.GetBarsNow: instrument='MCO' from='2008-07-01' to='2009-05-15' sessionBegin='00:00:00' sessionEnd='00:00:00' excludeWeekend=False period=1 Min splitAdjusted=False dividendAdjusted=False bars=0
2009-05-16 09:17:12:605 (IQFeed Data) Data.Bars.GetBarsNow: instrument='MET' from='2009-02-06' to='2009-05-15' sessionBegin='00:00:00' sessionEnd='00:00:00' excludeWeekend=False period=1 Min splitAdjusted=False dividendAdjusted=False bars=0
2009-05-16 09:17:26:801 (IQFeed Data) Data.Bars.GetBarsNow: instrument='MHK' from='2008-07-01' to='2009-05-15' sessionBegin='00:00:00' sessionEnd='00:00:00' excludeWeekend=False period=1 Min splitAdjusted=False dividendAdjusted=False bars=0
2009-05-16 09:17:37:846 (IQFeed Data) Data.Bars.GetBarsNow: instrument='MON' from='2009-02-06' to='2009-05-15' sessionBegin='00:00:00' sessionEnd='00:00:00' excludeWeekend=False period=1 Min splitAdjusted=False dividendAdjusted=False bars=0
I tried re-installing IQFeed and using a new NT database but that didn't help, I'll try re-installing NT and see if that helps.Last edited by bani789; 05-16-2009, 07:24 AM.

bani789,
It is highly recommended you disconnect before you backtest. This will speed things up significantly for you as you do not need to load data and will just pull it from your database.
If no data is being pushed through the pipes it may be perceived that it is "stuck". If you wait long enough it should go through.Josh P.NinjaTrader Customer Service

That's just the thing however, I do not have the data so I'm backtesting connected to fetch the data. Should I be fetching the data some other way? I've always done it like this and haven't had issues before.
What I mean is, I run a connected backtest once to get the data and then subsequent tests I do disconnected. It seemed like a good way to get data on a high amount of symbols without say loading the data manually on the charts for each symbol.Last edited by bani789; 05-18-2009, 02:49 PM.
