Incorrect Volume data from Yahoo since last week all FTSE100 stocks

    Hi

Strictly speaking this isn't a problem with Ninja but as Ninja uses Yahoo Finance data I thought this may be relevant. On checking daily volumes for most FTSE100 stocks since April 20 2009 I have noticed that they all seem to be abnormally low for example BARC.L

I compared the data with that on MSN - all these Yahoo volumes are very different i.e. at least by a factor of 10 .Those on MSN look much more normal.

As it has been almost 2 weeks since this occurred does anyone know the reason why this may be happening (I have already posted an email to Yahoo Finance support but no reply yet).

    Many thanks in advance
    J

    Hello clampjc,

    Thank you for your post.

This would be an issue with the Yahoo data.
Their support would be the best contact point.

Yes I understand that, I just thought that this may be of interest to other NT users, and/ or if anyone had seen this before.

I wonder how many people are making poor trading decisions based on this Yahoo data.

      regards

      J

Perhaps Ninja Support could alert all users of this problem?

For the benefit of other users reading the thread, here is the response I got from Yahoo:-

Thanks for writing to Yahoo! UKIE Customer Care.

I understand that most FTSE100 companies are showing abnormally low daily volumes in the historical prices. I apologize for any
inconvenience this may have caused you.

Please be assured that we are aware of this issue and have escalated this to our data suppliers Telekurs for further investigation. We hope to have it resolved as soon as possible.

We appreciate your patience while we look into the issue and apologise for the inconvenience.

        Thanks for using Yahoo!

            Update

Just for anyone following this thread, Yahoo have still not fixed the data, so it is now showing one month's worth of bad data.
