Backing up NT before reformat?

I went ahead and backed up NT on my external HD. I think I backed up everything I need. I just went and copied it back over to the reformatted computer. I can't find the NT icon or correct path to bring it up? Please help I don't want to re-install everything.

Did you use the backup feature of NinjaTrader? If so, you can restore:

I would like to do a clean install of NT on my 32-bit XP Pro installation, but I seem to be unable to use NT's backup function. Every time I try and use it my CPU usage goes up to 95-99% immediately and the progress bar never moves. It stays at "Archiving database" forever, even though according to the countdown timer I only have 9 seconds left...Is there any way to complete the backup manually?

update: I got it to work, I just had to wait about two hours for it to complete.

I have another question: If I did that backup (using the backup function), am I safe to do a complete reinstall? Will ALL of my data be saved, such as execution history, etc? I'm guessing I have to backup my replay data separately (in the My Documents/NT6.5 folder)?

Hello Radical,

Yes, all saved settings and data will be saved including market replay data, as long if all options are checked upon creating the back up.

Uninstall NinjaTrader via the Control Panel and delete the My Documents-->NinjaTrader 6.5 folder.

Please do not delete the My Documents-->NinjaTrader Backup folder, which contains created back up files.

Re-install NinjaTrader and restore the back up file.
