    Strategy Wizard and CCI

I use the CCI in some of my Strategy Wizard Strategies. In using the Strategy Wizard I use the Numerical value and then choose greater than 150 or less than -150 as an example. The drawback is that the 150 or -150 can not be changed unless you go back into the strategy and change it. If there is a way to make the CCI line adjustable in the optimizer what would the entries be in the Strategy Wizard to make tha happen?

    Thank you

You can make couple of user defined inputs and choose greater or less than user defined input in the wizard

Thanks for yor reply. I do not understand what you mean exactly. Currently if I go into Indicators/CCI on he left side of the strategy wizard condition builder and Misc/Numeric value of 150 on the right side with a < or > in the middle it works fine. But I haven't been able to figure out how to optimize the CCI line using User Defined Inputs. Using Misc/Numeric values does not allow for a User Defined Input. Any ideas on how to make the CCI line a User Defined Input would be appreciated.

You can only optimize User Defined Inputs. You cannot optimize numeric values. If you want the CCI period to be optimizable you need to change the period and link it to a User Defined Input you made earlier. If you want to optimize the value the CCI compares against you cannot select Numeric value, you need to select the User Defined Input for the comparison.

CCI of period __ vs User Defined Input
CCI of period User Defined Input vs. Numeric value

Choose one of those. Or mix and match.

I understand what you are saying. I know how to optimize the CCI period using the User Defined Inputs. I don't know how to optimize the CCI level so I was using the Nurmeric value which gave me a set value (for example 150 or -150). What are the steps to use the User Defined Inputs for the CCI levels?

          Thanks

            Mark,

CCI of period __ vs User Defined Input

On the left select CCI, on the right select User Defined Input. Do NOT select Numeric value.

I think I did it the right way. Part of the strategy is to go Long when the CCI hits around -150 and short when it hits 150. The CCI line is now adjustable as you said it would be. How do I do a negative number in the Defined Inputs screen?

                123r34,

Type in a negative value and make sure you change the Min. column to something very negative so it won't set you back to 1.

Thank you for your help. That got the job done and I learned a couple of more things to help make my strategies better.

                  Have a great day
