zenfire feed, but trading with IB

I trade at IB today, but I am considering opening a secondary account at one of the zenfire brokers.

I'd like to verify that I can use the zenfire feed, but continue to use my accounts at IB. ie, connect to zenfire 1st, and IB 2nd

Also, I have a single broker license for IB. I know I need to upgrade it if I want to trade at the zenfire broker.. but will that prevent me from connecting to zenfire in simulation mode?

    Hello,

With a multi-broker license you can trade with as many broker technologies as your computer can handle.

Thanks Ben, but that isn't what I was asking...

Eventually I'll upgrade to the multibroker licence.. but want to test the new broker and feed 1st.

Initially .. I'd like to keep my single broker IB licence for real trading, and connect to Mirus or AMP for simulation only.. During this time I'd want the data feed to be from the zenfire broker.

So .. zenfire feed, Trading with IB, on an IB single broker licence.

      Can do?

        Hello,

Single broker license keys are made for one broker at a time as the name suggests. Whether you are trading live or demo, it doesn't matter (unless you are using the free license key).

        Here are two suggestions:
        - Use the free license key you started with before trading live. If you need it again please email us from Help>Mail to Support and request it. The free license key allows you to connect to any broker technology you want, you just can't trade live
        - Send us an email when you want to trade a certain broker technology. You can switch the technology any time and as many times as you want for free; however you will only have access to one broker technology at a time with the live single broker license key.

        Does that help?

I have a somewhat similar issue. I have a strategy that requires NYSE Tick data (TradeStation's $Tick) but I trade with Velocity Futures and they do not provide this data. It would seem that I have to either somehow get the data from TradeStation to NinjaTrader or subscribe to a data service. I will still only be trading through Velocity Futures, so will I need a multibroker license and does anyone have any recommendations as to where I can get this data? Whatever method (data feed vendor) I use, it has to be a fast and reliable as this is a scalping system.

              Hi ScottB,

              Thank you for your post.

1.) You can import historical data from tradestation using the steps at the following link: http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/H...ownloader.html

Unfortunately, this would still not allow you to view live data.

2.) To connect to both Trading Technologes (Velocity's data provider) as well as Trade Station, you would need to use a multi-broker license.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Thanks Kyle. There isn't any particular reason I need to connect to TradeStation for the data, only that I already get that data feed (I have used TS for charting for years). If you or anyone has any recommendations for a cheap but fast and reliable data provider for index data (Vix, Tick, etc.) I would appreciate it. I just want to clarify that I need a multibroker license to get 2 data feeds even though I am only trading through 1 broker (Velocity). I am also assuming that there is no way to get the index data from the Trading Technologies data feed.

                  Hello ScottB,

I suggest to take a look at BarChart for index data. Barchart.com (subscriptions starting at $45/monthly):

In this situation, a multi broker license is not required; a single broker license is sufficient.

You would connect to Trading Technologies - BarChart simultaneously.
