Creating a continous contract of the TF with stored data from ZenFire

    Hi,

Is there a way I can create a continuous contract of the TF by exporting past data that I have collected from ZenFire and adding new periods as I go along?

Say I have data for the TF 12-08 and I want to add TF 03-09 and keep adding as I collect data.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your note.

Yes, you can do this by merging the past contract months into the current front month.

        Hello kantkant2,

        Thanks for your post.

The default merge settings of NinjaTrader (MergeBackAdjusted) will do this.
You can find this setting under Tools> Options> Data
Below I have provided a link to the Understanding merge policies section of our help guide.

            Hello kantkant2,

            Thanks for your reply.

What I would recommend is accessing the continuous contract of the TF with Zen-Fire.
You can access the continuous contract by using the following TF ##-##
You then could export the data from the TF ##-##
Below I have provided a link to the Exporting section of our help guide.

              OK, Probably I'm not clear....
I know how to export data and how to create a new ##-## contract, buot I don't know how to create a continuous ##-## contract starting from multiple past contract.... I have to manage them from txt data?? there is a built-in function in ninjatrader?
thanks for all, ninja support is great!!

                Hello kantkant2,

                Thanks for your reply.

There is not a way with NinjaTrader 7 to take standard contracts data and merge them together and export in that format to make a continuous contract. You would need to use the actual continuous contract an export it's data.
This is a very old forum topic in regards to NinjaTrader 6.5
