IB data fills

I find it annoying that when using IB as the data connection, charts that require tick downloads as in tick charts, range bars, volume bars, etc, won't retrieve any history from IB's servers. I know that the servers can be made to cough up some historical data, it requires dealing with their throttling policies which involve wait periods and such... maybe I can change a setting or something? I was using opentick for history until recently, now I'd like to use solely IB and it's not satisfactory......

To clarify: IB does not (!) support historical tick data, they provide 1 second snapshot data. We choose to not support that to not confuse the majority of our users.
