does my LIVE strategy need PATS historical data?

Hello,

I am having a great deal of difficulty finding out why my ninja script ATM strategy is not executing in LIVE trading. Someone y/d told me it may be due to the fact that PATS does not supply historical data.

I contacted PATSYSTEMS today and they told me historical data shouldn't be an issue with LIVE trading. My broker at MF Global tells me the same. My script which functioned perfectly in back-testing using a feed from Interactive Brokers now does not function with PATS and I don't know why.

My strategy is based on daily bars and needs a minimum of 20 bars. Can you tell if this means I need historical data or not or whether the LIVE Pats data feed is enough to calculate this.

Hello Steve,

If your strategy needs 20 historical bars, you will need have 20 historical bars in your chart upon running the strategy, see the link below.

You do not need historical data upon trading live discretionary. However, you do need historical data if your strategy needs historical data to calculate its conditions.

Unfortunately Patsystems does not support historical data.

You can store real-time bar data in the NinjaTrader database (Tools-->Options-->Data-tab), but this would mean to will need to be connected 20 days first, to collect all daily data before you can use the strategy.
