"Loose cannon" trade

Each day I see a trade in the SPY that seems to be completely oddball. A trade will take place a long distance away from the bid and ask in the market, after which the market returns to normal. My attachment illustrates this. Is someone pulling shenanigans in the SPY market, or what?

Although I am not sure why these "bad ticks" appear, we have a real-time tick filter to filter them out: http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/H...Filtering.html

Perhaps your data provider or broker have more information on the actual reason behind the tick as NinjaTrader only reports what is sent to it by the data provider.

wholesale trades

Hi,
There is such a thing as wholesale trades.
Two groups buying and selling off each other at a pre defined price and time with large volume.
When they do this, huge spikes happen for no reason out of the blue.
This is perfectly legal for them to do and although you might consider it shenanigans, its not illegal.
