an other day an other bug / feature / time waster

    Hi NT Team,

an other day an other bug / feature / time waster:

    - separate strategies for separate instruments using separate ATM strats.

    - Account performance tab with "ALL templates" selected shows correct data

-> if selected 1 templates pair: nothing is shown.
-> if selected an other templates pair: nothing is shown.
-> only if first pair is selected it works as expected.

DB already repaired - no use!
    (Pics are taken after repair)

    Is this a known bug / feature / mis-use ?

I can tell you what it is not: intuitive.
Day in Day out NT makes me feel stupid, I dont like that !
You have a super support, but only a beta state product.

      Hello makra081,

Can you please confirm after selecting on the two templates shown in the screenshot, you hit 'Generate' to create a new performance tab.

I tried to reproduce it on my end in order to further troubleshoot the issue, but so far I was unable to do so.

Does it make a difference if you generate a report for the 'FDAX 15-1' and 'FDAX 15-2' with 'Group trades by ATM strategy' enabled?

        Hello,

        yes I hit 'Generate'.

Group by ATM strat does not solve / change the issue.

        PS.:
I have a strategy applied to one instrument and do also manually trade the same instrument, hence man1 - template.

this should not be a problem, since 'checked in All templates' - the trades are associated to the right ATM strats.

What happens if you generate a report for the FDAX 06-09 and FDAX 15-1 and 2 templates, only?

              Hello makra081,

Please close NinjaTrader and go to My Documents-->NinjaTrader 6.5-->db and send me your zipped NinjaTrader(mdb) file. You can send it to [email protected], please reference this thread as well.

I will test your database Monday to see if I can find the cause of this behavior.

You ask me to email you a 120MB file?

I am sure you know that that is impossible.

Thank you for your ideas, but please raise quality !!!

I sent you an email via "Send Email to support" with your email (& ftp upload inside NT)

                  Hello makra081,

I tested your database you sent on my end, but it did not contain any data for Februari 4th. Trades were listed starting at Februari 23th.

Can you please go to My Documents-->NinjaTrader 6.5-->db and tell me how many .mdb files are listed and how they are named.

The performance reports I generated resulted expected results.

                    NinjaTrader_Jason,

                    1.
the Date format at my system is DD/MM/YYYY.
                    (as well as my pics)
                    Today is 6th of april 2009 = 06.04.2009

                    2.
                    I have 2 .mdb files ("NinjaTrader.mdb" "NinaTrader.old.mdb")

                    3.
what now ? re-evaluate with new date format ?

There is no room for error:
                    (this gets very very basic!)

Unfortunately your database seems to be beyond repair. I was able to repoduce the same behavior with your database.

Did you experience any sudden power outages lately? Something must have corrupted the database somehow.

I suggest to rename your current database, so you can will use a fresh new database. The trade history in the fresh database should reflect correct performance reports. However, this will cause you to lose all trade history, ATM templates and saved chart data.

If you like to rename the database, please follow the following steps. Close NinjaTrader and go to My Documents-->NinjaTrader 6.5-->db. Rename the NinjaTrader(mbd) file into NinjaTrader.Old.

Start NinjaTrader and a fresh new database is created.

-> now it is "beyond repair" ? That is a quick switch from "generated resulted expected results."

Did you experience any sudden power outages lately? Something must have corrupted the database somehow.

-> please do not point for the cause outside of NinjaTrader !! I will not play this game !
We had no power outages. Also god's hand did not strike down that PC!
NT runs here on a isolated PC as the single application, besides OS & Firewall/virus protection.
How about a crashed NT - that happens to me 3 times a month !?

-> Ok, you propose a kind of reset. That is step 2.
                        - Will I be able to restore my ATM templates, settings, history & tick reply data from my backups after I have created a fresh DB ?

                        Step one is:
                        - find the cause !

                        - How do I recognize a "beyond repair" DB ?

                        - Why is my DB "beyond repair", while I repaired DB regularly over WE without any errors !!!

are we positive that this has nothing to do with :

1x strategy applied to instrument A

                          and at the same time

1x ATM strategy + discretionary trading applied to the same instrument A

this has nothing to do with my data format ? Is NT able to handle my date format ?

                              Hello makra081,

When I stated 'generated resulted expected results' I used a different date (Februari).

If the error lies in the software itself, it would occur on my end and with other users as well.

Yes, but this will cause you to make use of the old database again (the one that is corrupted). Unfortunately it is not possible to save data from the old corrupted database.

Once you renamed the database, create a new backup file. Use this backup file if you like to restore settings in the future. Backups created before renaming the database, will cause NinjaTrader to use the old corrupted database.

Unfortunately, I cannot derive the the cause of the corruption of the database.

If the corruption in the database is not corrected by repairing the database, it indicates a corrupted database beyond repair. Repairing the database will re-arrange all trade executions in the database. It will also trigger some Jet internal repair logic and Jet will try to resolve internal inconsistencies.

                              This should not be related.
