    Restore DB Manually

    Received the following attached when I tried to reset/repair database,,help!

    Please close NinjaTrader and go to My Documents-->NinjaTrader 6.5-->db. Rename the NinjaTrader.Old(mdb) file back to NinjaTrader. If there was already a file named NinjaTrader in this folder, please delete this one.

    Start NinjaTrader and try the repair once more.

        I suggest to rename the database and make use of a brand new one.

        Close NinjaTrader and go to the same folder. Make sure there is no .mdb file named NinjaTrader.

        Start NinjaTrader and a new database is created automatically.

        The database contains ATM strategy templates, saved chart data and trade history.

          Same issue after deletion of all mdb files,, same error message box.. I was creating a Strategy with the wizard testing order entries, when the orders were being cancelled as soon as they were placed.. Thats when I tried to repair the data base..

            Am I correct, you delete all .mdb files and you started NinjaTrader, repaired the database and the error recurred?

            If so, please repeat the steps and do not repair the database.

            Please run your strategy and check for errors under the Log-tab once orders are cancelled when submitted.

            I suspect the issue is related to the strategy and not the database.

              Yes deleted everything ,, size of mdb file went down to 2580kb and properties says it was created today,, tried again as you suggested and again.. still fails.

              This is a catastrophic failure ,, and want to know what really went wrong and why.. Just deleting and trying stuff just isn't a professional response!!!

                Could you please do not repair the database after renaming it and try the strategy once more. Check the Log-tab for error messages and send them over.

                After you renamed the database, are you able to perform other steps without error? The error message only recurs when repairing the database, correct?

                  you mentioned Strategy but I am not doing anything with it, sorry I brought it up, thought it would help to know , obviously became a point of confusion!

                  This is only what I am doing right now:
                  As you requested,, went in deleted the current mdb, renamed the .old, brought up Ninja, went into repair or reset db,, same problem..

                    Could you please send me your log and trace file for today. You can find these files at the following locations:

                    Start Menu--> My Documents--> NinjaTrader 6.5--> Log--> log.20090326 for today. (log.yyyymmdd for any other date)

                    Start Menu--> My Documents--> NinjaTrader 6.5--> Trace--> trace.20090326 for today. (trace.yyyymmdd for any other date)

                    Send them to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com, reference this thread and put 'Attn Jason' in the subject header.

                    What happens if you bring up NinjaTrader and not repair or reset the database, but continue your usual steps?

                          Same issue,, see attachment. After following the de-install instructions and before new install, I checked the registry and there was still alot of Ninja entries there. Looks like we need a super cleaner!!

                            Hello Don,

                            Did the error recur before or after restoring your backup file you created?

                            Once you re-installed NinjaTrader, did you repair the database right away?

                              I totally deinstalled Ninja per your instructions and reinstalled.. Error occured before(less I would not have done anything.. New installation has the same error, right off the bat.. I kept nothing from the old install..
