    NT v6.5.1000.9 crash

    Dear NT support team,

I've downloaded the above mentioned version today, and found the
    following failure:

    - After running for a while, the program suddenly "eats" all available memory in the machine and the crash, without any advice.

Is this a malfunction on my PC or any other users, reporting the same problem ?

I've been running the previous version v6.5.1000.8, during last months, without any major problem.

I've downgraded the program to that previous version, but then it started to crash like with the new version.

Is there any fix I must try on my PC ?

I include in the zip, the trace file, where I signaled with the label <<<<CRASH>>>>>,
where I got the program to crash, 2 times with version v6.5.1000.9 and
    once with v6.5.1000.8:

    ================================================== ====

Any help would be more then welcome!

    Kind regards,

    Cândido Rodrigues

    Hello cmrodrig,

    Thank you for your post.

Please use the steps below to uninstall and reinstall the Microsoft .NET framework and let me know if the issue persists.
    • Terminate any applications running on your PC
    • Go to the Windows Control Panel
    • "Add/Remove programs" for XP users or "Uninstall a program" for Vista users
    • Locate Microsoft .NET Version 2.0 and uninstall
    • Re-install .NET 2.0 (Download from here)
Note: Do not reboot your PC in between these steps as this can potentially create more issues that we are unfortunately not qualified to assist with.

      NT crash with two monitors

      Kyle,

Thank you for your quick answer to my problem!

I've done according your instructions (uninstall dotNet 2 was quite a hard task!).

Then I run again NT Version 6.5.1000.8.
      Now I got .NET Version='2.0.50727.3082'
Then it happen again, after a while it crash.

But now, I think there is a explanation:
I'm using a 2nd monitor configured like the extension of the main one.
Probably this is the culprit for consuming so much memory.
The strange thing is that this only happen after a while (about 15 min after started NT).

Now, I'm again with only one monitor and runs nice, on NT Version 6.5.1000.8.

Any suggesting to overcome the problem with 2 displays ?

      Kind regards

          Hi cmrodrig,

          Could you please:
          - upload me your database
          - upload me your workspace
          - upload me your logs and traces
          - upload me your templates
Please use the Help -> Mail to support feature in NinjaTrader.

Please add my address (christian AT ninjatrader DOT com) in the 'To' field. And please make sure you don't edit any of the files before you send them.

Is there a special situation when this happens, e.g. open a chart, reload historical data, or closing a chart ?

          Thanks,
          Christian

NT IS CRASHING EVERY 20 minutes !!!

            Dear Christian,

Thank you so much for your follow-up.
I've to run again NT in order to reproduce the error.

I've included all the info you requested, but the database is to big to put in the attachment.
It has more then 100MB and after zipping it, it still have almost 40MB.

One question: How is it possible to reduce this Database, specially eliminating data from previous months, remaining with only 2 or 3 months of data ?

I've included also some pics I've made, with info from the Microsoft program: Process Explorer (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb896653.aspx)

There we can see that memory is running off as time goes by.
It happened first when I used a 2nd display, but now is occurring also with only one display.

The snapshots I've taken show that.

AND NOW, NT IS CRASHING EVERY 20 minutes !!!

There is also a common error, that happens a lot of times, is this error message:

            What is causing this ?
If there is need to send more files, please mention.

I've published this in the Forum, but the zip file is too big to go there.
Once again, thank you so much for your support !

            Best regards,

            Cândido Rodrigues

You can send even large databases by Help->Mail so support. The attachment files would be ftp-uploaded to our server. Just be patient enough, since your files are huge.

Also: please put "for Christian" into the subject and reference this thread in the mail body.

We analyzed your traces and now believe that you're hitting the wall due to RAM excess. Please try to reduce your setup as per recommendations here: http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/H...anceTips1.html

                  NT v6.5.1000.9 stop crash

                  Dear Christian Dierk and Kyle,

I'm trying to solve my problem with NT crash and now I've just uninstall and install again, now the last version NT v6.5.1000.9.

Then a new database is created that has only 17MB opposed to more then 100MB of that one that is causing the crashes.

I've tried to included the old big database in the attachement to see
if you can detect any major problem, however, after more then 30 min trying to send the file, the program just stopped and I have to restart again.

I don't know how to send to you this file.

Meanwhile, NT v6.5.1000.9 with the fresh instalation is running well.
The bad behaviour of "eating" memory until crash has stopped for now.

Didn't try with the 2nd monitor yet.
I'll see if NT is crashing again and then will report accordingly.

                  ===========
                  My question now is:
How is it possible to select the data we want in our database?
Can we eliminate the previous months, remaining only the 3 last months?

                  Best regards,

                  Cândido Rodrigues

You can delete historical data by Tools->Historical data->Delete.

Unfortunately there is no logic like "delete historical data which is older than 3 months for all instruments". You would need to perform step above for each instrument separately.

FYI... I updated to .9 and also started crashing out of the blue.. never an issue before... I know a couple other people I chat with that are also seeing the same thing. I will revert back to .8 until you guys figure this out.

one more thing... if this is really solved by using a clean database... then this happens way too often... Past issues support has had me start with a fresh database... Each time I lose all my historical trades.. which is just not acceptable! Please figure out this DB issue... thank you.

                            NT .9 crashing again

After deleting the database and start with a fresh new one,
NT last version .9 has started crashing again.

After connecting to live datafeed, it start "eating" memory until crash.
This was the behaviour with a huge database (more then 100MB) now, it occurs with a smaller one.

What could be causing the problem ?

                            Kind regards,

                            Cândido Rodrigues
