    Range chart gaps

When I run a sim101 multi-day continuous range chart with session limits of 8:30AM CDT to 3:15PM CDT, "fill" bars can occur when there is a gap opening in the morning. A canned strategy sees these "fill" bars as occurring in real time and will execute a trade accordingly. Using the same chart with my live, money account what will happen? The trade will execute at the current price irrespective of what the chart says, is that right? If true, can I do anything to obviate this?

I suggest to make use of the RangeAlt interval, which you can download from the link below.

I think you will find the 'fill bars' have a volume of zero. So you could check the volume to know it is a 'fill bar' and prevent the strategy taking any action.

Normally when I import an indicator from my desktop, it pops into my indicator list when I go to EditNinjaScript Indicator. This indicator doesn't show up in the listing of indicators. Should I be doing something different?

          Hello TedLincoln,

The RangAlt is listed as interval upon creating a new chart among tick, minute, range, etc.

I don't understand your explanation. Here is a possible clue:

When I import any new indicator, the message I get is "Ninjatrader successfully imported all 'indicators/strategies' contained in the NinjaScript Archive File. When I import RangeAltBarType, the phrase 'indicator/strategies' is replaced by 'Chart Types'. Is this message related to why I don't see RangeAltBarType in my Indicator list?

The NinjaScript source code for chart types is not found in the Indicators folder, so it won't show up the indicator list under Control Panel -> Tools -> Edit NinjaScript -> Indicator...

The NinjaScript files for chart types are found in a folder called "My Documents\NinjaTrader 6.5\bin\Custom\Type".

But if you mess around with the contents of this folder, I think the NinjaTrader support staff will tell you this is unsupported.

                  Hi KBJ,

Correct, we do not support modifications in this folder.

                        Jason,

Trying to do range bars (alt). I have never run a script in ninja and I'm a bit timid to do so. So, before downloading and running a script will I be able to advert. My concern is that want to use BOTH simple range bars and range bars alt.

I anticipate that I will have two workspaces; one for standard range bars and one for range bars alt???? using the same symbols?

This is supported. After you imported the RangeAlt interval, you can still use the default Range interval.

After you imported the RangeAlt interval, it is available under the interval drop down menu in the Format Data Series window upon creating a chart.

Is this what I download from the link http://www.ninjatrader-support2.com/...catid=3&sort=d? that you posted earlier in the tread?

                            Alternate Range Bar Implementation (RangeAlt)?
