Cannot connect to MBTrading first & then Gain second for Forex connections

I have opened an account with MBTrading for trading Forex markets. Currently I have a strategy running on a chart in simulator mode. My goal is to have a second connection to Gain so I have their data feed as a backup. I do realize the two data feeds won't be identical.

Okay, I connect fine to MBT.

When I try to connect to Gain, I get the following error message:
"You must connect to GAIN first and then to MBTrading second. Be aware that you should not trade FX through Gain and MBT during the same NT session since you may experience unexpected behavior due to the uncentralized nature of FX price quotes".

Is there any way to be connected to both with MBT being primary since that is where my account is? Would the multi-broker license allow this?

Hi tradervick, unfortunately not. Please also keep in mind that for MBT you have to use the 'TenthPip' setting while for Gain this only holds true if you connect to a fractional live account (this can be found in the Gain connection guide - http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/support_GAIN.htm).

If I connect to MBTrading first & try to start an external data feed with TradeStation, the external data feed fails. Would I be able to do this with a multi-broker license?

Unfortunately, a multi-broker license would not help in this case. You cannot connect to the 'External Data Feed' simultaneously with any other connection.

Thanks for correction. So...if I have MBTrading as my primary connection is there any other data feed that I can connect to for a secondary Forex data feed?

We would not recommend this tradervick, as the Forex markets are not regulated and therefore quotes would not come in uniform. Thanks!

Just to follow through with this, even though it's not recommended, if I have a multi-broker license with NT, what backup Forex feeds will work with MBT as my primary broker?

For MBT you would have to use their data to trade from, but you could connect to other feeds offering forex to backfill the charts and reconnect to MBT to trade - although as written it's not recommend by us for data consistency reasons. Just to clarify, with MBT being my primary data feed, am I allowed to be connected to any secondary Forex data feed at the same time?? If so, which secondary data feeds do you allow (I'm only interested in secondary data feeds that would provide minute historical data). Thanks.

You are allowed to connect to any additional feeds you want to. For instance, you could connect up to eSignal as a secondary.
