Simulation Forex

Hello,
I'm a new NT user testing it out.

I'm trying a simulation using FOREX but the rates displayed by the simulation engine seem really strange compared to actual live data.

For example, a real live usdjpy on a one minute chart might have a high/low of 91.23/91.19 but NT simulation engine for same currency will go high/low 0.98/0.88 which seems to me to have two things wrong with it.
1. Wrong display, it should be in cents
2. The one minute range in this case is 10 cents, which is a bit of an extreme situation to say the least, unless I'm missing something.

Do I need to configure NT instruments to properly simulate live forex trading?
How can I set up a simulated FOREX trade system that emulates real currency movements?

Hello sonicviz,

Am I correct you are connected to the Simulated Data Feed? If so, please change the 'Sim feed start price' of the USDJPY in the Instrument Manager.

Go to Tools-->Instrument Manager, highlight the USDJPY and click Edit.

Still, the simulation generated data does not seem realistic at all.

Can you load historical data at for simulated paper trading, and start it from any point in time? This would be better, take a historical data dump of usdjpy and use it as the basis.

The Simulated Data Feed is internally generated canned data.

I suggest to create a Gain demo connection for free to receive real-time and historical data. Please see the Gain connection under 'Connect to the Free Real-Time Simulation Account' at the link below.
