Chart Opening Crashes

Opening a chart causes NT to crash.

Starting up NT causes no problem. Connects to DTNIQ no problem, Datafeed flows.

I can open any type of window after, static dome, etc no crash afterwards.

I re-installed 6.6 beta.

Ran Defrag, and Clean-up, repaired DB and reset the DB, didnt help.

Any ideas?

Can you email use the following file:

C:\Program Files\NinjaTrader 6\templates\Chart\Default.xml

please send to ray at ninjatrader dot com.

Then delete this file and restart NT and try opening a chart.

Same result, trying windows update now. Is there anyway to check for file integrity on all file running w2k Pro? Wondering if maybe a filegot corrupted or something. File sent to you, Should i to a complete un-install and re-install for NT?

PS - Although .NET is supported by W2K, we have seen odd behaviour with this configuration in the past.

Attached is the screenshot.

System is Windows XP pro SP2

CPU 3.00,2.99

2gb ram.



I ran a unstall on NT and re-installed it. Same result.

Windows Update done also, no change.

One thing noticed not sure if it helps, is that the file MSXML 4.0 SP2 security update keeps downloading , Yet the next time reboot it always tries to install again. Related?

Guessing ... looks like something seriously screwed up with your system.

Hitting the bushes: uninstalling .NET runtime and resinstalling coudl make a difference.

OK, heres something interesting. Took care of the msxml 4.0 problem that is now resolved. ( Had to delete and reinstall back all of them back to the 3.1 service pack.)

I have been trying to pull up a chart the the ES mini using 150 tick chart. That is the chart that had been crashing.Yet, when i change the chart to the stock symbol " AA " and use daily data, it does not crash. Could it be a out of range tick or bad data on the emini chart?

What file do i need to delete that holds all the historical data?

Bad data/tick should not crash NT as your screenshow shows.

However, data is stored in <install>\db\NinjaTrader.mdb. Deleting that file will give you a fresh DB on restart (note: all !! data will be lost).

I was able to create a 150 tick chart of the stock symbol "AA"

Confirmed, it is only ES emini that occurs with. I did several other charts of other minifutures that consisted of tick and minute charts all occurred without the crash.

I was even able to open up a daily chart of the ES mini, bu the crash remains only with the minutechart and tick chart.

May be a problem within DTN. The screenshot you uploaded indicates that this is a crash in windows native code (like DTN software) and not .NET managed code (like NT).

OK, does this help? This occurs when i am not connected to DTN, or simulated etc. I open a chart using daily data, then i attempt to change to a tick chart.

Excellent, would make sense as i only chart ES. So if i delete the database the problem sould be resolved?
