News feed not updating correctly
I just started using the News reader in NT and it doesn't seem to be working properly. I subscribe to a DowJones real-time feed and I've filtered the news reader so that's all that I see. However, the news never appears in chronological order unless I click on the "Time" column header each time I want to see the current news.

No, just talking about the headlines. The headlines aren't in chronological order. It's almost like they're appearing randomly. It's 6:13 and the Time column for the last 6 articles reads:
3:59
5:28
5:24
3:41
5:52
6:00
Then, if I click on the Time to sort, I temporarily get articles in chrono order from 6:13 down. But, 30 seconds later the news feed automatically reverts to the exact same 6 timestamps and articles that I mentioned first. What's going on? I even closed NT and started again and this didn't resolve the problem.

What do you mean by syncing my PC clock? Syncing the PC clock with what? Currently, there's no discrepancy between any Ninja charts/price data and the PC clock. Also, I've already tried a complete shut down of the PC and restarting NT.
FWIW, the headlines are now intermittantly alternating between what looks like a random order and a headline sort in reverse alphabetical order, from Z to A.
I just shelled out almost $1500 for a lifetime license last week. Let's get this resolved. Log into my PC or something.
Thanks,
Lou
P.S. I just sent you an e-mail.

Got the email, thanks! Please provide us with your connection information so we can test this on our end here. Updating / Synching the PC clock with the accurate internet time can help in many issues, as NinjaTrader will use this local time to stamp incoming data...right click on the time in the lower right portion and click 'Adjust data & time', then sync it under the 'Internet Time' tab.

What connection info do you need?
Also, after completely shutting down the PC, I tried syncing the clock as you suggested but this did nothing to help the news reader stay in chronological order. The headlines appear to be stuck in revese alphabetical order at the moment.

Hello Lou,
Bertrand is referring to the connection information that is needed to create the connection on our end, so we can test your connection on our end and check if we can reproduce the issue, which could indicate the issue is related to your connection.
Have you tried opening a new News window and check if the issue persists?
I suggest to try the News window in a different workspace as well; check if the issue persists when the News window is located in a different workspace.
You can send your connection information to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com and reference this thread.

Please refresh my memory. Where/what is the connection info that you need?
I've just sent you the log and trace files, workspace files, and template files. Is that what you are looking for?
Also, yes, I've tried opening a News window in a different workspace and just tried it again to make sure. I have the same issue, the news is appearing by Headline in reverse alphabetical order and I can't get it to appear in chronological order.

I think I may have figured out what the problem is. If you leave the News reader columns in the default order: Headline, Time, Provider then the news reader appears to stay in chronological order.
However, if you change the columns to Time, Headline, Provider then there appears to be a bug which is preventing the news from appearing in chronological order.
I wanted the time to appear in the first column. Please check this column arrangement out to see if you can reproduce the issue. Anyway, I can live with the columns being in a different order - I was more concerned with the news not being time-ordered.

Jason,
The actual connection part is easy. I use IQFeed as my data provider. The issue occurs regardless of whether I'm connected to IQFeed alone or IQFeed and a broker. The IQFeed connection info is whatever Ninja has set up by default. Is this what you meant?

Hello Lou,
I was able to reproduce the issue when using a different column order than the default order.
I will notify our development team accordingly. Thank you for reporting.
I have been informed it is on the list for version 7 to be fixed.Last edited by NinjaTrader_Jason; 02-25-2009, 01:45 PM.
