Installation with local user vs. domain user

I have installed NT 6.5 on my PC using a local user account having Admin rights. The PC is connected to a LAN and I can use NT. On the other hand, if I log in as a domain user, when starting NT I get the error message:

"Unable to load custom assembly. Original version has been restored. You need to recompile your custom NinjaScript files. Please restart NinjaTrader."

When I restart, I keep getting the same error.

    Please help.

    Thanks

    Hello mdm72,

Could it be NinjaTrader is installed on a network drive? If so, please follow the instructions at the link below.

Are you still able to start the software via the local user account?

      Hello Jason,

I have followed the instructions in the post you suggested, but it does not work. I can run NinjaTrader with the user on the local account, which I used to install the program, but not from the account which belongs to our LAN domain.

Unfortunately we are no LAN admin experts. Please contact your LAN admin to resolve the issue (provided it would be resolvable at all...which we would not know at this time).

check if the domain account thro which u are logged in has local admin rights. ie it is part of the local admin group. chances are it is not.

The users do have Admin rights on the PC. I think I found out: I have XP in Italian on the PC, while the user in the LAN is on a XP in English. NT cannot work on both users because the custom directory is not recognized in both cases. Maybe it would be useful to change the installation so that each user can choose the path of the custom directory, instead of having NT to construct it automatically using Windows default directory tree.

              Hello mdm72,

I will forward your suggestion to choose the file path of the folders that will be installed to our development team and ask them if they can add this to the list of future considerations for the software.

              Thank you for your feedback.

I still have some troubles after the installation. Everything seems OK, Ninja starts correctly (no error on loading custom libraries), the connection with Zen-fire is working, and I can view the data on a chart. But ehre comes the problem:

If I try to start a strategy from the strategies tab or see the list from a chart the list of strategies is empty. I cannot run a strategy. Same for the indicators. Note that the directory <my documents>\NinjaTrader 6.5\bin\Custom\Strategy is not empty. There are a number of *cs files. Please help. Thanks.

Can you reset your database and let me know if this works.

                  Go to Tools--> Options--> Misc--> Reset DB.

Unfortunately it does not work. I still cannot see strategies or indicators from the chart or start a strategy from the strategies tab.

                        network pc

Yeah the install does not allow you to specify a path.

I am on wireless but need to login to domain, as do not have admin login for local machine.

The domain login sets me up with //server/home/name/my documents
which is not there. So Ninja tries to install there.

If i could manually set c:\ path or hold down shift key and have option to choose the path, when installing ninja - then that would be great.

I dont really want ninja files any where near work domain folders.

I will forward your suggestion to be able to choose the file path upon installation to our development team and ask them if they can add this to the list of future considerations for the software.

                            never mind

Err went and added a user and added to admin - so can use local machine now.

                            Is running - thanks though.
