    Ninja linked charts freeze up

    Ok , I have a 135 minute chart ,a daily , a 3 day and a weekly charts open .
One group only . They are all linked and showing the SPY . Next , I click the
drop down at the upper left of the 135 min chart and click on DIA . I might
get the 135 min chart to appear ,but the other 3 charts will not . Now clicking
on the charts to do anything produces nothing . NT charts are basically frozen. Ninja must be shut down and rebooted before I can open up the group
    again . Version 6.5.0000.8 . ???

    Hello T2020,

    Thank you for your post.

You may have some corrupt data in your database, try the following:
    Please try repairing your database:
    1. Go to Tools --> Options --> Misc --> Repair DB
Please try repairing your NinjaTrader Installation:
    1. Shut Down NinjaTrader
    2. Go to Uninstall Programs in the Windows Control Panel
    3. Select NinjaTrader and hit the "repair" or "change" button and follow the instructions to repair the installation.

Well , I did both your suggestions and at first it seemed to have cured the problem . I was able to go from SPY to DIA and then to SP 500 with all linked
charts . Then I tried the IWM and it tried to download data (which I had already downloaded on a previous day) and when it finished the download ,one chart kinda loaded but the other 3 did not . Again charts froze up and NT had to be closed . Maybe you should try to reproduce this problem using the same charts and steps . .. PST , regular trading hours ,and barchart for data ...thx

I suggest to reduce the look back period of your charts to reduce data/resource request and check if the issue persists.

Do you charts contain (third party) indicators? What setting is used for 'Calculate on bar close' for the indicators? I suggest to set it to True.

Cut down the number of charts to 3 . Limited the number of days plotted .
Put all indicators " On bar completion " . Fixed nothing .
Has anyone bothered to try and reproduce this ?
3 charts > 135 minute , daily and 3 day chart ... All linked . Using Barchart.com for data . previous posts have all the details .

              Hi,

We've tested this on our end and all is working as expected.

Would you mind deleting your database and if that doesn't work uninstall the software and start from scratch?

If you delete your database a new one will be build as soon as you restart the software. However keep in mind that you will lose all your setting, strategies, trade history, etc.

To delete your database go to Start menu--> My Documents--> NinjaTrader 6.5--> DB--> NinjaTrader.MDB.

Right click on NinjaTrader.MDB and select Delete. Make sure the software is closed when you perform this action.

              Let me know the outcome.

Before I do that ,I'm going to do some more testing . You may not have had
many or any custom indicators on the charts . It's to bad you don't have a way to export the entire group to test on your end ....apples to apples as
                it were .

                  Additional testing

1st I opened the group in question and took all the indicators off . >saved it as new group . I was able to switch from one symbol to another with no problem . Then I connected to barchart.com > tried again and all went well .
Then I opened the same group with all the indicators added back . Again all
went well > reconnected to barchart.com > again all went well . The symbols
that I used where DIA, SPY, SP500 and IWM . I'm sure I had historical data
for all those symbols saved already .
Then I tried ^DJIA ,for which I don't think had daily historical data downloaded yet . The problem then re occurred and NT had to be closed .
There was a Error message on closing NT . " Said it had detected a problem and needed to close and info had been written to the trace files . I could see
where ^DJIA had begun in the trace files , so I thought I'd include them here.
I can't tell if there's anything out of order .....

                      T2020,

Please try the following to correct any corrupt data in your database:

1.) Reset your instrument list: Tools --> Options --> Misc --> Reset Instruments.

2.) If the error occurs again, rename your database:

                      1. Shut Down NinjaTrader
                      2. Go to \Documents\NinjaTrader6.5\db
                      3. Rename the file NinjaTrader.mbd to OldNinjaTrader.mbd

                        RJ ,
I did the reset instruments ,but it did not solve the problem . I tried a one
other thing . I unlinked the charts ...... I could then click on the drop down
list and update and or download new symbols for each chart one at a time
with no problems . Using a 135 min, daily and 3 day chart . After I had downloaded the data for each symbol one chart at a time , I tried relinking
them . The Freeze up happened immediately . ..... I was still connected to
                        barchart.com .....

So.. the problem only occurs when the 3 charts are linked and I'm connected to barchart.com . If the data has been downloaded one chart at
a time and saved ,then I can link the charts (not connected to barchart )
and all works fine . So I don't think there's anything wrong with the data
and I'd hate to lose all the saved tick data I have . When the Error message
pops up , it says to open NT and send an email to support and that it would
have all pertinent files . Would you like me to do that ?
