Multiple systems with one instrument

I want to trade an ETF using two different strategies. One is based on a 15 min chart and the other on a 6 min. The two strategies are independent although they sometimes may agree or be opposite. So at any given point they each may independently be flat, long or short. If I set them up to autotrade together I would think the possibilities are: both flat, one long with one flat, one short with one flat, both long, both short or one long and one short. In the latter case I suspect my IB account where they both will be running will be flat while Ninja continues as though it has two postions open??? That would be OK I guess although since all systems exit by the end of the day I guess one long and one short order would be sent at the end of the day to close the non-existant positions. Since they would cancel each other out there would be no problem except for the commish. Is my perception accurate and is there a better way to handle this situation? Thx

That is correct. When running two identical systems, they can both be in a position but it showing up ultimately as flat over on your account side.

The systems are not identical but perhaps you just meant the same instrument. So will the "pointless" close out orders be sent at the end of the day and is there a way to avoid that?

Sorry, that is what I meant. There is no way to avoid the "pointless" close because the two systems are working independently of each other and will not know the others position.
