Upon activating a Live A/C how do I ensure I am in a Simulation A/C if wanting to test a strategy etc?

Hello,



Global simulation can be enabled via File --> select Global Simulation. When you enter you live license key initially you will be given an option to open NinjaTrader with Global simulation enabled.


If you initially do not allow this it can be changed by going to Tools --> options --> simulator --> check Always start in simulation.

Hi NT Michael,

With "Global Simulation" unchecked, I went 'Live'.
I then decided to return to Sim mode but unable to
as message that appeared said I had an open position
which is an options position. Is this normal?
I can't switch back to Sim with an open possie?

In your control center, check your orders tab while connected and let me know what account the order is open in.

Hi NT Michael,

Although I unchecked "Global" to go Live, the Account tab showed
Sim101. I tried changing the account to my IB a/c but still couldn't
revert to sim mode.
"error" -- You have one open position. You cannot switch to Global Sim Mode.

Any ideas please?

Reset your sim account using the instructions provided and let me know if you're able to switch after doing so.

To reset the sim101 account please go to Tools--> Options--> Simulator--> and click Reset.

I'm having same problem: I have open position on live IB, tried Global Sim, it said: "Error, You have 1 active order, You have 1 open positions, You can not switch to global sim mode"

I know I have open position on IB live acc, but still I need to go to global sim mode instead of choosing sim account on all of my 20 charts.

When will NT 7 be available for live trading? Wish it wont have many problems

Hi asalada, you cannot go inter Global Simulation mode when you have an open live trade. However you should able to switch to your Sim101 account for simulation trades. NinjaTrader 7 is scheduled for the first quarter of 2009.
