IB: No security definition has been found for the request

    Hi,

NT8 is a bit irresponsive for my use cases. So I decided to switch back to NT7. When loading a chart for NQ 12-24, I've got this error message:

IB: No security definition has been found for the request (200)

I'd searched the entire NinjaTrader forums and found some old threads (2008, 2009, 2015) where people posted the same problem. I tried the suggestions there, but it didn't work, perhaps because I'm using the lastest NT7.0.1000.43 against recent TWS (Build 10.30.1m Oct 22, 2024).

I also did the Tools>Options.Data.Reset Instrument. No such luck. Note that the forex instruments such as $EURUSD works fine, but the 6E 12-24 future doesn't.

Can you please help out pointing in the right direction.

    Thanks very much in advance.

    Hello sangn431 ,

    Thank you for reaching out.

For this broker connection, please make sure you are on a supported version of NT8 (greater than or equal to 8.0.27.1).

While it may be technically still possible to connect and trade your IBKR account on NT7, we do not advise this nor is this officially supported.

Also when using an Interactive Brokers account to connect to NinjaTrader, you must use the version of Trader Workstation or IB Gateway that is specified within the NinjaTrader — Interactive Brokers Connection Guide seen below:

Once you have the version of Trader Workstation or IB Gateway as specified above, connect to your account within TWS or IB Gateway.
    • After you are connected in TWS or IB Gateway, you are then able to connect to the account within NinjaTrader.

From here connect to your account and test if the charts are updating.

If the charts are still not updating, please use the steps below to reset the instruments:
    1. Disconnect from any data providers by navigating to the Control Center > Connections menu, and left-click on “disconnect” that appears to the right when hovering your mouse over any active connection
    2. Reset your instruments by navigating to the Control Center > Tools > Database Management
    3. In the Database Management window, under the “Update instruments” section, ensure that “General properties”, "Futures expiries" and “Symbol mappings” options are checked and then click Update
    4. Restart NinjaTrader

Reopen NinjaTrader and connect to your account/data and test if the charts are updating.
    • If they are still not updating, please let us know so we may look into the behavior further.

Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.

    Have a wonderful day!

Sorry for the late update: I followed the instructions given by NinjaTrader_Erick, using TWS 10.23.2a with NT7.0.1000.26 through 7.0.100.43 (yes, I still kept all the old versions downloaded over the years). Unfortunately, they all failed.
