    Ninjatrader7 only 32bits works but the 64bits won't start.

With the installation of Visual Studio Community Edition 2022, NT7.1.1000.43 64bits stopped working, it doesn't even write anything in the log or trace directory so I can't submit anything to support. The 32bits works. I tried everything, also reinstalling NT7, SQL Server Compact 3.5 Sp2 (32 and 64bits), Reinstalled Net 3.5.1. Nothing fixes it. But the 32bits of NT7 (v7.0.1000.43) doesn't start (it's process dies instantly).
I hope to be able to continue effectively working on NT7 while migrating to NT8, it makes the transition even harder.
I've seen this problem in the past on other two computer and it is on all of them caused by the Vs2022 installation so it must be a known issue by Ninjatrader but I don't find anything on the forum.
NT7-64bits is the only program that seems to be affected out of very many 64bits programs.
Any indication on how to resolve it?

    Hello giogio1 ,

    Thank you for reaching out.

I suggest running the below, publicly available Fix It utility by Microsoft.

This program is able to look into many Windows items that may be stopping the installation, first use it to Uninstall NinjaTrader 7.

Then, once these steps are completed, download and install NinjaTrader:
    • Login into the NinjaTrader Account Dashboard
    • If necessary, please create a login ("account") by creating an Username and Password and verifying your email address.
    • Click "Download" in the bottom left-hand corner of the sidebar
    • Next select "Download" in the "Most Recent Release" Window in the main screen
    • Next pick the previous release found on the right hand side of the page and click Download.
    • Once the installation had downloaded, ensure any previous version of NinjaTrader is closed before running the installation package.
      • Note: You may need to locate this in your "Downloads" folder in a Windows File Explorer

If you receive an error message when attempting to install or launch please send us a screenshot of what it reports.

Let us know if we may assist further.

      Thank you Erick,
I don't understand, how should I apply your suggestion and use the microsoft troubleshooting program for my situation. I don't have problem installing or uninstalling neither Visual Studio 2022 nor Ninjatrader7. I can reinstall Ninjatrader7 also without any error. It just doesn't start once installed. What it is clear is that Visual Studio community edition 2022 (which is necessary to debug Ninjatrader8 scripts) appears to kill something on Ninjatrader7.
Which procedure do you have in your mind, I mean which order of installation should I use (using NT7-NT8-VS-2022)? Is Ninjatrader aware of this incompatibilty? It appears to they must be aware of it and know the solution since all machine with different setups shows this beheavior.

        Hello giogio1 ,

        Thank you for your message.

After investigating and conferring with my team, we have concluded that the solution here is to stick with NT8. All updates or fixes regarding Visual Studio have been limited to NT8 as NT7 is no longer in development.

If you wish to continue using NT7, and you find the having Visual Studio 2022 causes it to not launch, then you can try uninstalling Visual Studio 2022 while you plan to use NT7.

Then re-install it when you need to debug for NT8.

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.

Thank you Erick for consulting with the team, it was the case, but wander if the team realizes how moving from one platform to another is already painful, and one has to do it with the one with the original code down?

            Hello giogio1,

Unfortunately there are no considerations for NinjaTrader 7 as this is no longer in active development (and is slowly being phased out).
NinjaTrader 7 stopped development in March 2022.

That said, you could continue using NinjaTrader 7 32-bit, or install NinjaTrader on a second computer.
If you are just needing to view the code so you can copy and paste this into NinjaTrader 8, you may still be able to launch the project in Visual Studio 2022 or open the files in notepad or another external text editor.

Thank you all. Yes NinjaTrader7 is phasing out.
I found the solution. The offender is, not a surprise a Win11 kit inside the Visual Studio 2022. It was easy to spot because I am staying away as possible from increasing spying by MS.
In Visual Studio vs2022 on the C++ group, the "Build Insights" contains Win11SDK_WindosPerformanceToolkit and that's the one which offends Ninjatrader7-64 bits.
It needs to be unchecked and NinjaTrader64 bits will resume working.
Hope NinjaTrader, as part of their evolution, will consider to move out of Microsoft. Way too much spying to accept by someone who wants to trade. Being endemically .NET dependent this might be almost impossible to do but might be its Achilles' Hell. Still I hope NinjaTrader will consider it seriously. To me it's only matter of time that NinjaTrader will see this move as urgent and necessary.
              Best.
