Does the output need to be open along with the chart for automatic trading? My system froze unexpectedly and stayed in one position. I had to restart the strategy to get it working again.

In NinjaTrader 7 a custom NinjaScript strategy can be ran from a chart window without the Output window open.

Further, another option would be to run the NinjaScript strategy from the Strategies tab of the Control Center.
