Volume overlay

I'd like to have a semi-transparent volume chart plotted over the base of panel 1. Preferably with coloured up/down bars. Is there any way to do this?

Hello,

Not by default. You would need to code it with NinjaScript or attach it to panel 2 or higher.

I will look into that. An indicator overlay feature would be nice to have in future, as would control over opacity more generally. Thanks.

Examples are big charting sites like stockcharts.com and finviz.com. They both have transparent volume overlay with volume Y-axis on the left side that goes up about 30% of the chart. They both also have volume colors based on price up/down bar.

The VolumeProfile indicator wil plot a vertical histogram for volume in Panel 1.

The VolumeUpDown indicator will use different colors for up and down bars.

Yes you can overlay a volume indicator over chart bars. To achieve this when adding the Volume indicator set the Panel to the "Same as input series" and set Scale Justification to Left.
