Can't assign hotkeys - keeps saying "is not a valid shortcut"

I want to assign a drawing to a hotkey. Questions:
- What is the grave/tilde key to the left of the "1" key called in NT7 hotkeys?
- Why when I select oemtilde it says it is "not a valid shortcut"?
- Why when I select PageUp/PageDown/Insert/Delete/BrowserBack/BrowserForward it says it is "not a valid shortcut"?

Why are there so many hotkey options listed in the pull-down menu, but when I select them, they say it is "not a valid shortcut"?

Thanks for your post.

The key on a keyboard located to the left of the '1' key is called the "Oemtilde" key.

To use this key as a Hot Key shortcut in NinjaTrader 7, you would need to use it in combination with either Ctrl, Shift, or Alt.

For example, Ctrl + Oemtilde could be used as a valid Hot Key.

This also applies to using 'PageUp, PageDown, Insert, etc. for Hot Keys.'

Why are some hotkeys required to use in combination with ctrl/alt/shift and the function keys F2-F12 are not? Which hotkeys are available as single press?

Thanks for your note.

This is just how NinjaTrader 7 Hot Keys were programmed to function.

F1 through F12 keys will not require a combination of Ctrl/Alt/Shift. All other Hot Keys will require a combination of Ctrl/Alt/Shift.

Yes, at least one modifier (Ctrl/Alt/Shift) must be used in conjunction with another key press (such as Ctrl + A) unless you are using the F1 through F12 keys in NinjaTrader 8.

This is the same as how a modifier is required for Hot Keys in NinjaTrader 7.
