cpu usage

was having a problem today where only ninja was running and the cpu usage was at 100 percent andws running slow this was the case even after market hours . I rebooted ninja and it seems to be fine now but that shouldnt happen ive got duo prosseser and 1 gig with another gig o the way any suggestions why it would stick at 100%?

A couple of things to verify.

2. The size of your NinjaTrader database file. To verify this, go to Documents > NinjaTrader 6.5 > DB folder and verify the size of the file ninjatrader.mdb

Please let me know the size of this file.

there are 2 files ist is ninja tradre old 116 mb 2nd is ninja trader 174mb

Thank you for your reply.

Your database file is very large.

By resetting the NinjaTrader database, this will install a fresh database for you and back up the old one.

Disconnect from your datafeed.

Then, you should back up NinjaTrader first by going to File > Utilities > Back up.

Then, go to Tools > Options > Misc tab and choose 'Reset DB'.

Now shutdown NinjaTrader and restart the software.

thanks ryan I tried that well see how it acts today, now tha db is at 103 mb doesnt seem to be that much smaler what do you think?

I have had the same issues.

Did what you said about the DB mine was about 90meg.

Noticed it did not change in size after i went though your steps though

Just to add i was unable to trade with the platform today due to NT taking over 90% of the CPU all the time

any other thoughts

no problems today that seemed to help although not sure we addressed the issue of why it stuck in the first place thanks for the help I always appreiciate your quick and insightful support tips.

The only way i fixed this CPU issue was a full complete uninstall and reinstall.

Nothing else seemed to work.

How does Ninja handle dual processors when doing optimisation work on strategies?

when running the optimisation Ninja is sitting at 50% of cpu usage and I have a dual processor?

I think NT is a single thread app so hence the 50% and never higher.

NT7 single is meant to support more than one core which will be good

From what i have read early 09
