How are upgrades managed??

I am trying to decide which subscription to use -

Are version upgrades priced differently based on subscription type ?

I.E. - no cost if you have lifetime sub, but the is a cost if on a monthly sub ?

There is never a cost for updatesto new versions regardless of the purchase type. There may be a cost for an upgrade to a different product (we do not have any at this time) in the future. A new product would consist of substantially different features.
