Looking for a tool to measure tick movement dynamically

Is there a tool in Ninja Trader 8, or an add on tool, that allows you to click on a point on a chart (let's say, at the bottom of a candlestick), and then click on a different point on the same chart (let's say at the top of a different candlestick) and see what the difference is in ticks between the two points?

I am envisioning something similar to the image below (which is showing the SwingTrend indicator) except instead of having an indicator draw these automatically, I would like a drawing tool that allows me to draw them manually.

Hello ralett,

This can be done using the Ruler Tool with the steps below.

• Go to your Drawing Tool drop down menu Ruler which will change your cursor to a pen.
• Place the pen on your chart where you would like the measurement to begin (point A)->left mouse click
• Move the pen to where you would like the measurement to end (point B)->left mouse click again.
• Move the pen to where you would like the information box placed in the chart window

Within the box the Y-axis value will display the number of ticks between point A & B.

Yes, I know about the ruler, but that is not exactly what I'm looking for. It provides point values, not tick values. Sure, I can convert manually but having the data displayed in ticks would be ideal.

Please use the steps below to change your Ruler settings to view Ticks only as opposed to Points.

• Double click on the line connecting your Ruler points which will open the Properties window
• Select Tick from the "Y value display unit" drop down menu
• Click Apply
• To save as a default click template->save->Save as Default
• Click Ok
