Weekly sma not equal to daily sma

    Hello,

I would like to know why when I plot the same stock its weekly sma (10 weeks) 38,04 is not equal to its daily sma (50 days) 37,81.

Please see the screenshots attached where the both sma´s that I mentioned are in red.

The stock I used is ASIX from the NYSE. "Calculate bar on close" is set to "false"

    Hello fluffier,

    Thank you for your post.

Glad to assist. Who are you connected to? This is displayed in green on lower left corner of the Control Center window.

Can you also please include each respective chart's right click > Data Series menu in your reply?

We look forward to assisting further.

        Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately I was also not able to plot this item. Please send me your database, log, and trace files so that I may look into what occurred.

You can do this by going to the Control Center-> Help-> Email Support

Expand 'Other files' and enable 'Database file'.

The 10 week SMA has 10 data points: the 50 day SMA has 50 data points. Different data sets will not produce the same value simply because they span the same time domain. That is arithmetic axiom.

The weekly close (on Friday), used to calculate the 10 week SMA has no direct relationship to the 5 closes of the days that constitute the week, and which are part of the data used to calculate the 50 day SMA. None, other than that the weekly close is the same as the daily close on Fridays, that is.
