When I choose "Bars back" - to save CPU time - and restart the system or change the timeframe in the chart it jumps back to "Days back" in the range settings.
Is there a way to hold it at "Bars back"?

After setting up your chart the way you like it, right click in the chart--> Template--> Save as Default.

Tried. But still goes back to "Bars back"

I believe this may be expected but will check. There is no gain in CPU time since historical data is loaded in min increments of "day" thus, selecting "Bars" will only limited what is actually loaded in your chart, it may still pull back data in days from a historical data service.
