Stop Limit orders in ATM strategies trading stocks

Is there anyway to have a stop limit orders set in an ATM strategy when trading stocks? When you set it up it reverts back to market orders when trading stocks. If you trade any reasonable size you know how inefficient market orders are as far as fills and limit orders are a must.

    Thanks

    Hello Tonkingrf1551,

The stop loss for Atm Strategies in NinjaTrader 7 will be a stop limit order unless the Chart Trader / SuperDOM Properties > 'Use stop market for stop loss orders' is set to True.

Below is a public link to the help guide. Please see the section 'Available properties and definitions'.

Yes this is setting is there, but if you actually try to use it for stocks it does not function.

        Hello Tonkingrf1551,

You are correct when trading equities.
A design choice was made by our development to not allow stop limit orders when trading equities because the hard-coded 20-tick offset may frequently cause rejections due to a volatile market.

I will submit a feature request on your behalf for the NinjaTrader Development to consider allowing this for equities in a future version of NinjaTrader.

Once I have a tracking ID for this request I will post in this thread for future reference.

Yes makes sense. Is there a way for me to chance this default on my end? I understand protecting people that may not get filled with narrow limits. Market orders for my application are just out of the question. If this can’t be changed it really defeats the whole ATM strategy system, thus the platform as a whole. It seems that most users trade futures and forex were this would not be applicable, but I’m surprised this hasn’t come up before. Thanks Ryan

            Hello Ryan,

Unfortunately, this cannot be changed with Atm Strategies.

You can instead place a manual stop limit order.

              Hello Ryan,

I've received tracking ID# SFT-3711 for this request to use stop limit orders with atm strategies when trading equities .

Please note it is up to the NinjaTrader Development to decide if or when any request will be implemented.

We appreciate your feedback on this.
