Connecting E signal

I have recently downloaded the software.
I set up my external data connection, that told me it was setup correctly, via e-signal
When I try to connect to the data, the software seems to freeze. it states that it is connecting in the bottom left corner, my e-sig data manager pops up and states that the system is performing normally.
but the control centre states not responding, I have tried rebooting a couple of times and that doesn't seem to work.
