Ninjatrader 7 custom indicators convert to Ninjatrader 8

If the script is a 3rd party script, reach out the vendor or author of the script to request a version made for NinjaTrader 8.

If the script is open source, you can create a NinjaTrader 8 script and implement the logic from the NinjaTrader 7 version.

If the script is not open source, and you cannot contact the vendor or author, you may not be able to create a NinjaTrader 8 verison.

I have the same issue of wanting to transfer over indicators from 7 to 8. The question I have though is do I have any hope of doing this successfully if those indicators are 3rd party proprietary indicators? I got an installation file and a lifetime license. I don't know for certain, but I imagine I can't look at the internal scripts for them. Any thoughts? I'd just contact the developer, but he has long since disappeared and I have no way of getting in touch. Thank you.

If the developer has truly disappeared, then decompiling or deobfuscating may not be illegal, but any consequences would almost certainly be unenforceable. The issue here, is that, given what I read from the tone of your question, it would appear that you would need to get someone who is skilled enough to do it.

In other words, while it can be done, given your particular circumstances, it does require some, at the very least, rudimentary geek skills.

You correctly assessed my tone koganam. My geek skills here are lacking. I tried to look at the code as outlined above, but I'm still unsure if it is indeed open source or not. I'll continue to try and track him down through some other channels. I'm nearing that point where if he has a mother and I knew where she lived I would have zero shame in knocking on her door.
