ADX Series Dataseries same as input?

Hi. when im using an EMA for example for a Dataseries I can just say
EMA(period); and it will work without the dataseries input

but with some not so common indicators like ADX fe. it seemingly requires the Dataseries since im gettin errors left and right tryin to use ADX(14); tho the addon for both EMA and ADX is just dataseries, period.

so my gerneral question.
what can I enter for every dataseries input that ninjatrader automaticly gets that i wanna use the dataseries the chart or the startegy is based on without having to fully define it, which is what i did so far to avoid this error.
problem with that is ofc, that i manually have to change this everytime im changing the instrument which is awkward

Thanks for your post.

You should be able to use ADX(14) in the same manner as EMA(14) as they both default to the input data series.

Are you using this within a multi series or multi time frame indicator/strategy? What error messages do you get?

ok, done, dunno why i didnt work, but it works now, as u said. but still. what could i possibly enter for that, so it would work with it.

Thanks for your reply and glad it is working as expected.

If you wanted to specify a data series you could use Close, Open, High, Low, Median, Typical, Weighted. IE: ADX(Median, 14) // 14 period ADX of median price type.
