I have to download data from Yahoo during trading hours and it freezes the GUI.

Can I use the webClient methods DownloadStringAsync and DownloadStringCompleted to download the data I need from yahoo ?

I am not sure NinjaTrader is multithreaded..

Thank you for the question.

I wanted to verify, are you referring to the Yahoo connection that can be configured in NinjaTrader or are you doing custom programming that downloads data from yahoo?

If you are asking about custom programming, you could certainly use standard C# coding to do web requests etc. it would just need to be valid syntax and tested to ensure everything works as expected.

If instead you are referring to the connection, this would not be able to be modified to download data differently, currently this would be the only way this adapter would work. I can look into it further or submit a feature request if you are experiencing problems with the adapter depending on what may be happening.
