How to add an EMA to a custom indicator

I built a custom indicator and I'd like to plot a 20EMA on it. How can I do it (simply) code wise?

Unfortunately this is not supported: You can not add indicator A to plot within indicator B. You would need to mimic the logic of A in B's OnBarUpdate method.

I tried few variations and it works. It doesn't work, though, doing an EMA of the CCTBollinger Indicator (which works stand alone).
Here is what I did:
double average = EMA(CCTBollinger(21), 21)[0];

I keep on getting empty plot.

Any idea why this happens?

You would need to debug it as I would not know what the problem is.

Also, check the Control Center Log tab for any errors.
