    Plotting Inverse Instrument

    Hi there,

I'm interested into plotting the inverse of an instrument similar to inverse ETFs.

As an example I am interested in plotting the inverse of NQ futures.

Should I create a new instrument or plot 1/instrument?

I was not sure how to call the actual instrument.

    Hello,

    Thank you for the question.

You could essentially plot an indicator and "Reverse" the value from the current value into a negative number. Although if you apply it to the same panel being that the price would be the exact opposite it will cause the chart to be scaled very small. In a separate panel this would work best.

A new instrument would not be the way to go about this, I would believe an indicator would be the most simple approach.

You can also take a look at the Mirror Bars that we have on the forum, this essentially creates a mirror of the chart and displays it below.

Please let me know if I may be of additional assistance.

An inverse equity is valued by the inverse of percentage delta, not the inverse of absolute value. i.e., if the equity goes up "n percent", the inverse equity goes down "n percent".

You will have to write an indicator.
