How can an indicator know whether it is running in Market Analyzer?

I ask because I would like to investigate things like whether it would be more efficient to do things like not calculate until the last bar if in MA, or nicer to not show irrelevant configuration options when in MA.

Would checking for (ChartControl==null) be the right way? Is that reliable? Is there a better way?

If you use a null check for Chart Control, that should to the trick, but it will also affect the code that is executed when a strategy or another indicator calls your indicator.

Personally, I would code a second version of the indicator, such that it can be used best with the market analyzer.

      Hello EV,

      Thank you for your post.

Harry provides some great insight here. Your inquiry has been asked before in various forms and unfortunately there is no real way to tell what has called the indicator, whether strategy, chart, or Market Analyzer.
