Market Thermometer

I'm attempting to build an indicator based on Dr. Alexander Elder's Market Thermometer which is:

A bar plot (histogram) of the greater of (High of today - High of yesterday) OR (Low of yesterday - Low of today).
A line showing the moving average of a specified period of those values.

I've perused the example indicators and tried piecing some things together, but can't get something working.

Can you help me?
