    ATR of an indicator

I have been busy programming different ways to take the average true range of an indicator. Unfortunately, it sometimes does not work. What do I need to do to make sure that a double value (another indicator) will function correctly in the ATR?

It is clear that the ATR will accept double values and not just dataseries. I have it working for some, but not others.

    Thank you for any help!

    Hello pat_bateman,

Welcome to the NinjaTrader Support Forums!

The Average True Range (ATR) indicator can be passed one of two overload methods. The first being just a integer representing the period, and the other is by passing it two variables the first being a Data Series and the second would be an integer representing the period. For example:

    ATR(int period)
    ATR(IDataSeries input, int period)

If you are still having some trouble could you post some snippet of the code, and let us know what you are expecting as a result and the result that you are getting.
