Negative Displacement

Is it possible to see a negatively displaced indicator in the current bar?

Hello,

Yes you can use both positive values for displacement.

Putting a displacement of -10 would set a Moving Average to 10 bars behind the current bar.

Using a displacement of +10 would set a Moving Average to 10 bars ahead of the current bar.

Matthew, thanks for the reply. If I use a -10 displacement then the indicator lags 10 bars behind the current bar. Is there a way to see that -10 displacement in the current bar? Thanks

If you want to see the indicator value for the current bar, then don't use displacement.

Ryan, thanks for the reply, but a negatively displaced indicator is visually different than a 0 displaced indicator. Is there a reason why a positively displaced indicator will show in the current bar, but a negatively displaced indicator shows the amount of negative bars behind?

Displacement only affects the visual position of the indicator. The values are the same.

Positive displacement shifts the indicator visually forward.

Negative displacement shifts the indicator visually back.
