Indicator to use to monitor Dow Jones

Hi,

What indicator can be used that monitors the Dow Jones index price?

I need it to overlay the price & how many points positive or negative it is and have it in a subgraph or overlayed over any instrument I may have up at a given time?

Hello,

Thanks for the note.

No need for an instrument to do this in NinjaTrader 7. NinjaTrader 7 suppost multi instrument graphs. Meaning Right click on the chart you want the DOW overlayed on, select data series. Then add the ^DJIA instrument to the chart by adding it in the top left corner.

Now the chart will display the Dow and you can even select the same panel in the options in the data series window so it plots on the same panels.

I highly suggest changing colors there so you can tell what bars is the dow.

Thks...can this method be used to create a Dow indicator data series to be used on any instruments in the strategy builder?

Hello,

This only does this to be displayed in the chart.

If you want to do this in a strategy this cannot be done in a strategy wizard as this requires multi instrument strategy programming which requires unlocking the code and coding NinjaScript.

Let me know if you would like information on how to do this.

You can see a sample by clicking Tools > Edit NinjaScript > Strategy > SampleMultiInstrument.
